2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information — name, email address, business name (if provided), and password credentials.
- Billing information — subscription plan and billing contact details. We do not collect or store full payment card numbers. Card payments are processed by Stripe, Inc.
- Inventory content — the data you enter into the Service, such as item names, SKUs, quantities, locations, costs, suppliers, notes, photographs of items, and job or work-order records. We refer to this as "Your Content."
- Support communications — messages you send us and any information you include in them.
Information collected automatically
- Device and app information — device model, operating system version, app version, and language settings.
- Usage information — features accessed, actions taken, timestamps, and error or crash diagnostics.
- Log and connection data — IP address, browser type, and referring pages when you use the website.
Optional device permissions (iOS app)
The Simple Inventory iOS app may request the following permissions. Each is optional, each is requested only at the moment the related feature is used, and declining any of them does not prevent you from using the rest of the app.
| Permission | Why we ask |
|---|---|
| Camera | Scanning barcodes and taking photographs of inventory items. |
| Photo library | Attaching existing photographs to inventory records. |
| Notifications | Low-stock and reorder alerts, if you enable them. |
We do not collect precise location data, contacts, health data, or advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
3. How we use information

- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To process subscriptions and send billing communications.

- To send service announcements about changes, outages, or security matters. These are not marketing messages and you cannot opt out of them while you hold an account.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Ownership of Your Content
Your Content belongs to you. We access it only to operate the Service, to provide support you have requested, to address a security or technical issue, or where required by law. We do not use Your Content to train machine learning models, and we do not sell or license it to anyone.
5. How we share information
We share information only in the circumstances below.
- Service providers. Vendors who process data on our behalf under contract, including payment processing (Stripe, Inc.), application hosting and database storage, email delivery, and error monitoring. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
- Other users on your account. If you invite team members, they can see the inventory data within your account according to the access you grant them.

- Business transfers. If Software Bayou is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will give notice before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
6. Data retention
We keep account information and Your Content for as long as your account is active. If you cancel, we retain Your Content for 30 days so you can reactivate or export it, after which we delete it from our production systems. Encrypted backups are purged on a rolling schedule of no more than 90 days. We may retain limited records longer where required for tax, accounting, or legal purposes.
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, access controls, and regular software updates. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
8. Your rights and choices

- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You can exercise most of these directly in your account settings, or by emailing support@softwarebayou.com. We respond within 30 days and will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Deleting the app does not delete your account. To close your account and delete your data, use the account settings on simpleinventory.io or email us.

The Service is not directed to children and is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International users
